Corporate parents CHS (Children’s Hearings Scotland) and SCRA (Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration took part in an event for Hearings-experienced young people in Falkirk recently.
The free event at the Dawson Community Centre in Falkirk was open to children and young people to come and learn more about the Children’s Hearings System.
Organised by the Falkirk Champs Board, we were joined by Our Hearings, Our Voice, Quarriers Children’s Rights Service and Who Cares? Scotland.
There was also a special input from the fabulous Scottish comedian Anna Devitt, who has experience of the Children’s Hearings System when she was younger.
We did a short presentation on rights in the Hearings System and then offered young people the chance to get involved in two fun sessions. The first session was write a wish for your future, put it in a mini jar and decorate the jar. There was a lot of glitter involved!
In the second session we asked the young people to write something on a wooden block that they wanted to improve in the Hearings System and then build it into a tower. There was lots of amazing ideas!
Every young person also received a goodie bag from CHS and one from SCRA.
If you have an event with Hearings-experienced young people, we would love to get involved. Please get in touch with us.
